Basis for health policy

Health reporting provides information to policy makers, research, players in health care system and interested members of the general public.

It documents and interprets health-related aspects. Since health status and behaviour are closely connected to social factors, data on social structures are also taken into account in health reporting. Such data contribute to explaining health phenomena.

Health indicators

The health indicators, which are divided into 6 thematic areas, provide a complete overview of the health situation of the population and the development of the health care system in Switzerland and the cantons. They are addressed to members of the general public who are interested in the issue of health in Switzerland.

Based on the monitoring of indicators, Obsan produces health reports at the national and cantonal level. They provide an overview of what is happening in the area of health and show how it relates to many influential factors.

Databases

Health data form the basis of analyses and other services provided by Obsan. Obsan has direct access to the most important Swiss databases in the areas of health and the health system. An inventory of the health databases gives an overview of all health databases in Switzerland.
