Long-term care for the elderly involves intense cooperation between doctor's surgeries, hospitals, nursing homes, home care services and caregiving relatives. Increasingly, older people can also make use of intermediate housing and care structures. In view of the growing number of people who need different forms of support in old age, there is a great challenge for all those involved to offer the best possible coordinated range of services.

Obsan analyses the care situation in Switzerland and in the cantons as well as the associated financing costs and challenges. It thus supports the planning of structures and services in long-term care, taking into account the effects of different care and financing models.
